Get in Gear

I've officially run out of my current color OBSESSION

(Tick Tock from Amy Howard at Home)

so I cracked open another recently released color that is also 

GORGEOUS!

GET IN GEAR...

We primed this solid wood cabinet in white before applying Get in Gear

then distressed with a medium grit sanding sponge

to reveal both the white and the dark stained wood

(I've found if you distress One Step Paint right after it's dry, it distressed fairly easily)

The color is rich, vibrant, and saturated...

I love how the Mercury Glass hardware  glistens against the blue-green shade

I opted to keep the interior very simple

in fresh, clean white

(the doors had decorative wood inserts, but I loved the more modern look

of the plain glass doors)

This is a wonderful statement piece, don't you think?

I imagine this piece in a neutral dining room

(perhaps mostly white?)

with some natural wood elements

Crave-worthy Color

I feel like we haven't painted in ages...

so we were quite pleased to be able to steal away a few evenings

and work on some fun new pieces...

Here is a little sneak preview...

the blue on this piece, Cobalt from Real Milk Paint Co

makes me so very happy...it's almost electric, it's so vibrant

just my speed!

Are seriously, how much do you LOVE all that chipping, 

cracking, and leathery texture?

It's divine

Kenny fought me so hard about using this color on this piece...

but clearly he caved in and has been working on it for nearly two weeks

Now that it's about done, he LOVES it....

like, he wants to keep it

Of course, we are not keeping it...but it's completely amazing

 and I can't wait to share it with you!

I chose a smaller project, 

because it's hard for me to get a lot of creative time lately

My "day job" has been keeping me pretty busy

Not sure if you can tell from my photo, but I mixed up the most gorgeous coral!

The robin's egg blue interior is another custom blend,

and I'm surprised by how much I love the two together...

of course, all that gilding doesn't hurt AT ALL!

Seaside Stripes

I started working on this darling dresser
before the holidays

I wasn't sure where
I wanted to go with it
so I kept starting, then walking away
in favor of other projects

It all just sort of came together
and I'm loving the outcome!

Keegan kept me company
while I was waxing this piece
this is his creation!

I think this piece
has a very coastal
beachy vibe

Would be a fabulous pop of color
in a neutral room
(I'm thinking slouchy baskets, white slipcovers...)

Although it would clearly work in a bedroom
I'm enjoying the idea of using it for storage
in the bath
or
in a hall or entry way

Perhaps a child's room?

In any event, I hope you love it as much as I do
I custom mixed this luscious blue
it's deep and rich
without being overly formal
The freehand stripes aren't perfect
and are slightly random
like your favorite beach towel
or a faded cabana...
