Lush...

I grew up in the late 70's and was a teenager in the 80's...

you know what that means, right?

Lots and lots of PURPLE!

Purple eyeshadow, purple eyeliner, purple leg warmers,

purple jumpsuits with big shoulder pads...

purple bikinis with matching sunglasses

and of course, His Royal Highness of Purple...

If it wasn't purple, I didn't want it!

It's taken me quite awhile to come back around to purple...

but now I favor a more bohemian version...

with a touch of grey for a sexy vibe

This sure isn't 1980's purple!

We custom mixed this color using a little of this, and a little of that

The hardware is divine, don't you agree?

We really wanted the smokey grey trim to stand out, 

so we outlined the top and bottom lips in 

glamorous silver leaf...the contrast is dramatic and eye-catching

How lucky am I to have found these gorgeous lavender roses?

The dresser is so lush, a dozen just wouldn't do!

Spun Sugar

This dresser is so sweet...it's reminiscent of spun sugar!

Soft, shimmery metallic White Pearl (sheer) from 

Modern Masters 

over a pale grey painted base coat

We used a light antique glaze to highlight the carved details and 

to add warmth to the silvery finish 

Royal Design Studio's Ribbon Damask is one of our favorites

and it perfectly fit inside the oval panel

We envision this petite piece in a nursery...wouldn't that be just lovely?

Henredon makes my heart beat faster

Henredon...vintage Henredon

how you make my heart SING!

Especially when it's FRENCH PROVINCIAL Henredon

so hard to come by...I've only had one other

(and let's face it, we've has a LOT of pieces pass through our hands!)

This was an estate purchase...

we found an old pay stub inside from Bausch and Lomb, circa 1972.

Net for the week?  $288. 

I gather that was a fair sum in 1972, as Henredon isn't inexpensive!

But enough yapping from me...check out this loveliness

 I adore this style...the taller, more tapered legs are very elegant

and remind me of Drexel's Touraine line

(but this has prettier hardware!)

 Lately, we've only been finding single nightstands

so we were thrilled this had a pair

 Full/Queen headboard w nice carved details to mimic the mirror

Cane is PERFECT

And can you believe they had the tallboy, too?

You KNOW I did a little happy dance when no one was looking!

We are picking up another dresser, nightstand, mirror, and two tallboys tonight...

much to Kenny's surprise because after unloading all this, I received the following text:

"We are officially FULL UP. No more furniture until the shipper comes"

Surely we can fit in a FEW more pieces, right??  

Peacock Blue Dresser

 Finally found a few moments to finish this dresser

 It's done with Milk Paint

 We custom mixed this gorgeous, vibrant Peacock Blue

 I consider this moderately distressed

although perhaps you'll disagree?

Really aren't any charts to go by, you know?

I realized last night,
as I finished waxing a French Provincial Dresser
that it was the last one in my inventory
We can't have that!
So I scoured CL
and found this gorgeousness

She's in great shape, except the finish
and good grief,
must weigh close to 175lbs!
I couldn't lift her
and I'm pretty strong!

I love the Bombe shape
and the super chunky hardware
mixed with the delicate design

Oh, and the mirror...
I have plans for this girl...
I contemplated keeping her
and selling my personal dresser
but
I really love my dresser!

We drove all the way to Zephryhills
which is over an hour away
but I'd say it was a worthwhile trip!

Then, I noticed ANOTHER
French Provincial Dresser!

Bassett, no less...

And a few more mirrors...
the large one in the back is a Cheval mirror
with original beveled glass and pins...
woo hoo

Not bad for our first stop!
Thank goodness,
because our other stops
were fruitless!

Time is NOT on my side!

We've been working on the loveliest dresser...
I wanted a slightly cartoonish feel...
like Tim Burton designed it

I decided I wanted a phrase,
in French, across the top...

My husband, being Type A,
dragged out the overhead
and painstakingly traced the words
on the dresser

He then started painting...
he got through only two words
before I noticed he had the dresser on its' back
and was painting the words as you'd read them
while the dresser was on it's back

which, unfortunately,
is upside down and backwards
when the dresser is right-side-up!

I am lobbying to just hand paint the words myself...
I think I might actually win this one!

My Heart's Desire

I somehow convinced my sweet husband to take over painting duties
on the now stripped naked table top...
And I get to work on a new project...not a custom, not a repair...
but a piece I can paint to my heart's desire

The handles on this White Furniture dresser are HUGE
I obviously didn't have enough sanding fun today,
because I chose to strip and sand the lacquer
off the top of THIS piece, too...

Check out those curves!
The sides are even curvy, like a Bombe style piece

The details at the bottom are carved wood...yum

and a big ol' stack of ginormous drawers...all curvy, too
So what's the dilema?
I want to paint it pale blue
Blue sells well for me on Etsy
But sits for ever at the store...
hmmm...what to do...
What color would YOU paint it??
