Scatterbrained...or just too busy!

This set...wow. What a time investment!

It turned out gorgeous, thank goodness.

The base and chairs were easy enough, as was the body of the buffet
But I didn't like the tops being Paris Grey
Nor did I like the mix I made with Graphite and Paris Grey
(although I painted two coats before I decided this...)

So I painted the tops Graphite.
It's a gorgeous color, but it shows every little imperfection in your paint technique,
every brush stroke

I painted two coats of Graphite, gave up, and had my husband paint two coats...
he's the more precise painter

In the end, it took a moderate amount of distressing
followed by dark wax to make me happy.
Well, happy-ish...

Then, I didn't buy enough fabric to cover the chairs...ouch.
Did I mention it was $49/yard?

We loaded it up, took it to Summer House Marketplace, unloaded it, and realized the paint had bubbled on the top from the heat.
You're kidding, right?
Nope.

It's all fixed and wonderful now...
but I forgot to take pictures out in the peacock's playground
so I was left to take passable photos indoors, in our half empty space.

As I was unhappily posting to Etsy (unhappy with the photos, not unhappy in general...)
I realized I forgot to measure the table.
That's it. I quit.

I went to Datz Deli and soothed my fazzled nerves with a roasted veggie sami
and some bacon mac n' cheese.
That's right...Bacon. And Mac n' Cheese. Together.

I feel much better now.
Unfortunately, my jeans are a bit snug...

Did I forget to mention...THE ARMOIRE?

Oh, did I forget to mention there is a matching armoire?
Check out the details!
(that's not a missing chunk, just my camera's flash)

All curvy and gorgeous...
Yes, I know...it's Bird's Eye Maple...
yes, I am still going to paint it.

Am I going to be able to part with this once it's done?

It's circa 1860
With a few expected bumps and bruises...
can't WAIT to get it home!

Oh. My. Goodness.

We scour some rather "questionable" places in order to find all the wonderful things we find...

This bed is nothing short of AMAZING...
And it's buried under junk in our favorite junk shop

Can you believe the carved details on this piece?
The original candle sconces that would have flanked either side are gone...
but, really, who cares?

I'm smitten.

See all that junk?
I literally risk life and limb to score beautiful pieces!

I'm envisioning Paris Grey with Old White on the raised areas and trim...

Can't you see it?

Have I been neglectful?

I know, I have not listed anything new on Etsy for too long...
This table has actually been done for two weeks...what a slacker I am!

This little cutie was a candidate for my house...
but alas, I need something a bit bigger

This dresser is amazing...it's currently listed as a custom commission
but I doubt it will make to Friday, unpainted...

This mirror is amazing.
The details are incredible,
and it's so OLD...I love all the history.
Just imagine all the folks that have peered into it's frame?
This is available at Summer House.
Frankly, I'm afraid to ship it!

And lastly, these sweet sconces/shelves
I used a pair of these like brackets to hold a longer shelf,
and everyone asks where I got them...

Don't you love it when you have it and NO ONE else can get it?

I taught him well...

While I was busy out Marketing today, my husband scored these amazing pieces!

It hardly seems fair that while I was busy working, he was out shopping...lol

They're a matched set...both with original hardware and wooden casters

He did good, yes?

The Million Dollar Desk

OK, so I exaggerate...this desk didn't cost a million bucks...
but they WERE asking $800. Yes, as in eight hundred dollars.

Why, you ask? I have no idea.
I'm friendly with the shop owner, and he didn't know, either.
He gamely marked it down to $700.

And so it sat...it sat through half off sales, furniture sales, and holiday sales.
I told him to call me when he was ready to sell it for $75. He laughed.
He never called.

I stopped in today to browse on my way home from work.
"you still want that desk?" he asked.
"Why, yes, I do" I replied.
And so it's mine.
For $75.

More than I can chew?

I realize I have a habit of seeing too much potential in things...

I'm dazzled by the curves, the carving, the wood, the details...
did I mention the MIRROR?

I've already decided I must own it before I notice the missing pieces, the missing handle, the broken gingerbread trim (it's in the drawer, woo hoo!)

But really, would you...could you...have left this behind?
She's going to be amazing, I just know it!
